A Tree Meditation

Straighten your spine, lift your head to heaven, plant your feet firmly on the earth.

Circle yourself with power; know you sit in circles of light that nothing can cross.

Before we journey, put all your worries in a safe place. Bundle them up and put them just beside the front door. Know that they are safe, and that you can pick them up when you finish your meditation.

Let your worries go now. Feel how light you have become. Relax, breathe deeply.

Breathe in the joy of the universe; breathe out all that you no longer need.

Focus on your breathing. Be aware of your breath, breathing in, breathing out.

Now see before you a tree that you know well. It can be a tree from your own garden, or in your street, or in the local park.

Visualise your tree as clearly as possible.

Then, gradually, see it begin to grow, outward and upward, until it stretches far above you, and its trunk is too big to see around.

See the shine of the tree.

See the aura.

See the energy.

Now ask the tree if you may hug it.

When you get permission, put your arms around the tree and hug as much of the trunk as you can.

Press your ear against the tree. Listen to the voice of the tree. Listen to all your tree has to tell you, your truth from all the other Great Trees of the World. When you have heard all you need, release the tree.

Thank the tree for its kindness in sharing tree secrets with you.

Offer the tree a gift from your heart. Watch the tree gradually restore itself until it is the original tree of your visualization.

Come back to yourself.

Pick up your worries now, should you wish to.

Open your eyes.

Stretch.

Yawn.

Remember all you have learned.

Green Etiquette means to leave a gift for the tree, as a politeness for services rendered. You'll find a list of suggested gifts in the page tree magics ....
