It's an ill wind ----

Here are some photos of the 2006 cyclone. The Tablelands is recovering well, although it may take a while to get everything back to "business as usual".

Cyclone Larry photos

during Cyclone Larry   Larry was selective.

Even though Larry came through in the morning, during the cyclone it

was as dark as late evening. And it is true that cyclones are noisy, the

sound was like a train rushing towards you.

Larry was selective. Some areas were hardly touched, while others were

flattened. We were very lucky - Larry went down our creek gully and over

our roof, yet was very destructive to our near neighbours.

Inspecting the damage   Somewhere under this there is a creek
Larry ripped up large trees, yet all our newly planted fruit trees survived.   Somewhere under this there is a creek

school bus stop   school bus stop after Larry
The school bus stop before Larry ---   and after --- yes, there is a bus stop in there, and it survived.

Clearing a way out

The large trees suffered worst. One pine tree snapped in half during

Larry, and brought down two others with it

looking for water   our friends try to help us find water

Somewhere, under this big child's game of pick-up-sticks, there is a

spring-fed creek which is our source of water --- We can all hear it,

now all we have to do is find it under the debris.

I'll get by with a little help from my friends ---- Bella the kind little

white dog and Bill the Maine Coon cat decide to help their humans

by strolling along the fallen pines to join in the search for the creek.
