When there are two Full Moons in a given calendar month, the second Full Moon in that month becomes the Blue Moon.

The Moon’s cycle is 29¼ days, whereas our human calendars can have up to 31 days in a month, so it follows that with 12 months in a year and 13 Full Moons, some months will have a second Full Moon.

Not only does this make this month very powerful and special, the second Full Moon is also very powerful and special. A Blue Moon is a time that’s rare enough to dedicate to special work, a self-dedication or an initiation, for example.
